Thrift store find

In a recent trip to my favorite thrift store my daughter found this piggy bank.  He was not in that good condition, but at a great price. She insisted in making him gold. (Hint: a little spray paint goes a long way). Here's his transformation:

Transforming a 99 cents paper pad into a beauty

I recently visited a 99 cent store and found this package of note pads which are incredibly handy for those crafting ideas. I'm in the process of reorganizing my craft room and trying to get my decor to follow a single theme.  Sometimes some items are fine the way we purchased them, but other times they aren't. When that happens don't be afraid of transforming them. Paint, paper, decoupage, or ribbon are some of the ways you can repurpose your items.

Here's an example of my latest transformation. Using the bind it all machine, cardstock and some pretty scrapbook paper.

Things I'm loving right now: Burlap

Burlap is one of my new best friends in the crafting world. It can be used for so many projects from bulletin boards, bags, cushions, curtains, tablecloths and so much more. It gives this rustic and natural look that can not be achieved with anything else. Some pretty examples: 

And here's one of my completed projects... an inspirational bulletin board. I used an old frame, which I painted black to match my decor, used burlap as my base cover, and then added some of my favorite stamp images, quotes and products.

How to transform a vintage desk into treasure

In a recent trip to one of my favorite places, Renninger's Antique and Flea Market in Mt. Dora, I discovered this treasure.... an old vintage desk. Right away I saw the potential for a new project. For months I have been looking for a place where to store all my makeup and beauty supplies, ahh! Another one of my guilty pleasures. After a little negotiation, we came to an absolute great price. I brought it home in a hurry to begin his transformation.

This was the original state when purchased. I used a clear coat of paint to refurbish his original color.

I unscrewed the handles and removed some of the rust. With a little gold Rustoleum spray paint, I spruced up the handles.

The next step involved one of my new obsessions... decoupage. The inside drawers were a bit worn, so I covered them with this pretty paper I found at Joann's fabric store.

Then I used clear containers from the 99 cent store to house all my goodies...everything just fell right into place.

I love Mod Podge!

Recently I started decoupaging,  and I love it! There are so many different things you can do with this technique. You can redo boxes, files, room accents, books, everything! Here's one of my favorites.

Decoupaged vintage tin cans

I found this today. So cute! These would be great for storing crafting supplies, baking items in the pantry, or even for gardening tools . Just make sure to use a sealer once you're done if you're taking it outside!

Tim Holtz haul

I love Scrapbooking and especially Tim Holtz items. I made a HUGE haul last week in Joann when I found his paper stack on clearance along with other goodies. I will share pictures of my completed projects...
